Things I've Bought Recently

Hi everyone!!
I know it's been a while! I've been extremely busy settling in to a new postgrad course, in a new uni, in a new city and haven't had much time for non-uni related things. I thought I'd do a haul to get back into the swing of things.
Hope you have all been well?

Best High street Cleanser I Have Ever Used!

Hi Everyone!
I have recently been playing with some new high street skin care and came across the Botanics Softening Cleanser by Boots. It's 82% organic and is great at taking off makeup and everyday grime. As usual, I take off the bulk of my makeup with a wipe. I have always done this and removing a full face of makeup with a cleanser alone is a foreign concept to me.
I rub a dime size amount of the cleanser into dry skin and wip with a cotton pad. I didn't expect this to work at all but when I used my toner I found that there was no makeup left on my skin. Not only was my skin clean, it was also supple and hydrated by the cleanser.
I will definitely be trying out the other products in the range and will let you know of any other gems I find.

Have you tried anything from the Botanics range?

My new love!!

I went out today in search of coat that is season versatile (light enough for late summer, can be layered for autumn and winter). I popped into a few shops and was also determined not to get anything that looks like something I already have. I went to Zara, Newlook, Topshop etc., you know, all the high street regulars, and settled on this contrast leather khaki parker from Primark. It was £25 and is practical and bang on trend. A lot of the other high street shops carry their own version of this jacket. I'm almost glad they had run out of my size in Zara, Topshop and River Island.
I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality! It's definitely one to keep an eye out for?

What do think of the contrast leather parker trend?

Do tell! x

Buy of the week!

Long time no blog!! I've been extremely busy with life but had to take a quick minute to mention these wedges I just bought from newlook! They have quite a low heel and are really comfortable! I'm just getting into wearing heels day to day because I'm quite tall and find these shoes are still within my comfort zone. They are also only £19.99!! Love 'em!!

Sheer Tights For WOC!!- Pendeza Tights!!

Hi everyone!
I dont know about any you, but finding a pair of "skin tone" tights is a total nightmare on the high street. Many hosiery brands have yet to grasp that not everybody can wear beige tights. I had long since given up hope that I would ever find tights that would match my skin tone until I stumbled across this brand whilst looking for tights to wear for my upcoming graduation.
They come in 5 tones from tone 10 (on the left) to tone 50 (on the right), I wear a tone 10 and they match my skin tone perfectly. These tights are available in 4 sizes; S, M, L and XL. Even though I am quite slim (UK size 8-10), I am tall at 5'11 so I decided to get the XL just to be sure they would be long enough and they fit beautifully.
The opacity is perfect at 15 denier, just thick enough to blur out any imperfections on the legs. I have bought 2 more pairs since my first pair because I love them so much.
I think they are well priced at £4.99 and are sturdy for 15 denier tights. I highly recommend them to anyone that has similar issues finding sheer tights to match their deeper skin tone.

They are available at pakcosmetics.com in the UK and pendeza-pantyhose.com in the US.

Relaxer Day!!- My way!

Today was my relaxer day. I based my scalp with JBCO to prevent burns and overprocessing and self-relaxed with my usual Mizani Butter Blends Relaxer for Sensitive Scalp. I used a sprush (pictured above) to apply the relaxer to my new growth and then dusted my ends with relaxer 2 minutes before neutralizing with Mizani Butter Blends Sensitive Scalp Balance Hair Bath.

I always do a protein treatment on relaxer days to put back the protein taken away by relaxing. Today I used the Organics Hair Mayonaise mixed with extra virgin olive oil. I applied it generously all over the hair and covered it with a foil cap for 3 hours before rinsing it out.

I applied my Elasta QP H-two leave and conditioner and Extra strength hair placenta to damp hair which I left for 5 minutes to penetrate. I then blow dried my hair and applied castor oil hair treatment to my scalp and Elasta QP hair lotion and coconut oil to my hair to moisturize and seal.

I'm wearing a bun as a protective style.

Do you self relax?

Translucent Powder for WOC- Black Opal Invisible Oil blocking powder

I have been on the hunt for a translucent powder that is not white for a while. I have tried the ELF HD powder which is good but if you use the slightest bit too much will leave you with a ghostly white cast.
Black Opal is a cosmetic brand made with women of color in mind. This translucent powder is a dark beige color and does not leave a white cast on the skin. It also doubles as a good oil control powder and does not build up on the skin.
I highly recommend this product for all WOC looking for a good setting powder and any MUAs that have culturally diverse clientele.
It's a bargain at £6.99 for 28g of product!

What are your thoughts on translucent powders?
Have you tried this one?

Eyebrows on a Budget!!!- MUA Brow Pencil in Brunette

I've been meaning to post a review on this product for a while. I ran out of my holy grail brow pencil (Mac eyebrow crayon in Stud) and with no Mac counter nearby, was stuck on what to do. I saw the MUA eyebrow pencil being used in a few youtube tutorials by girls with a similar hair color and skin tone as me decided to give it a try. At £1 a pop I thought why not.
At the price my expectations were not high because I'm a firm believer that you should get what you pay for. I was pleasantly surprised. I love this pencil and have not touched the Mac one a bought yet as I have no problem with this one.
It has good color and good staying power. It also contains castor oil which promote the growth of your brows and has a great brush.

What brow products do you use?
Have you tried this one?

Beauty Wishlist!!

1) Real Techniques Setting Brush: I have a few real techniques brushes and love them all. I have been looking to get this brush for a while for setting under eye concealer, highlighter application and contouring.

2) MAC Spiked Brow Crayon: I have been a big fan of the MAC Brow crayon in Stud for years and want to try a lighter color for a less dramatic brow. I will be purchasing this as a back up for when my Stud one runs out.
3) Nars Powder Blush in Dolce Vita: I have heard great things about this blush as a good pink blush for women of color. I have been holding out on purchasing it because I want to see it in person before purchasing it and there isn't a nars counter nearby. I will purchase it if there isn't a blush similar in my collection.
4) Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel: I have always wanted to try this peel and will be purchasing it the first chance I get. I'm all for home treatments and self pampering so I think this is a product I will get good use out of. Will definitely be reviewing this product once I purchase it.

5) Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation: I don't own a single item from Illamasqua and wanted to use this product to break the cycle. I have read rave reviews about this product and would love to try it.
